This fall, we’re celebrating the Association for Public Art’s 150th anniversary as the nation’s first private, non-profit organization dedicated to the integration of public art and urban design. We’re marking this milestone year with an exciting guest speaker series and walking tours, plus the launch of a never-before-seen digital archive and a sculpture’s big return.

Join us Thursday, October 14th at 4PM for Public Art by Design – a free, virtual discussion with architects and landscape architects exploring their role in assisting artists to realize their vision for creating public artworks.

FREE + VIRTUAL EVENT: Explore the life and times of the German artist Gerhard Marcks and his sculpture Maja (1942) – an important work that recently returned to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. With presentations by Dr. Arie Hartog, Director of the Gerhard-Marcks-Haus in Bremen, Germany, and Penny Balkin Bach, aPA’s Executive Director.
