“Common Ground” on Display at AIA Philadelphia Exhibit

The Fairmount Park Art Association’s public art project Common Ground is currently featured at the Shops at Liberty Place as part of a display presented by the the Philadelphia chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Common Ground, by artists John Stone and Lonnie Graham, is presented by Claflen Associates. Consulting Architect George Claflen worked closely with the artists to design the project’s Sanctuary – an open-air outdoor structure that stands on the site of the former St. Elizabeth’s Church at 23rd and Berks Streets.

In addition, Art Association Board Member Emanuel Kelly, FAIA, of Kelly/Maiello Architects was awarded the AIA’s 2009 John Harbeson Award for lifetime achievement.
